Meet the Doctors


Susie H. Kim O.D. F.A.A.O.

Dr. Kim earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She received her Doctorate in Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. She performed clinical rotation in primary and pediatric eye care. Dr. Kim completed a residency at the Cleveland VA Medical Center in primary eye care and ocular disease.

Her professional memberships include the American Optometric Association, the Ohio Optometric Association, and past president of the Illinois College of Optometry’s chapter of the American Academy of Optometry. She is a participant in the InfantSee and Vision USA programs

Dr. Kim performs comprehensive primary ocular exams, fits a variety of contact lenses, co-manages post-operative patients, and evaluates patients for diabetes, glaucoma, macular degneration and other retinal pathology. She also provides treatment options for patients with dry eye syndrome.

Originally from Chicago, Illinois, she currently resides in Hudson with her husband (Dr. Peter Schmid) and their two children.

Peter M. Schmid, O.D., F.A.A.O

Dr. Schmid earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Superior his Doctor of Optometry degree at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, After graduation Dr. Schmid completed an ocular disease residency at the Cleveland VA Medical Center

His professional memberships include the American Optometric Association, Ohio Optometric Association,, Beta Signa Kappa Honor Society, and he is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. He is a past examiner with the National Board of Examiners of Optometry and a participant in the InfantSee and Vision USA programs.

Dr. Schmid performs comprehensive primary care ocular examinations, fits contact lenses, co-manages post-operative cases including cataract and refractive surgery patients. He also evaluates and treats patients with diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and other eye diseases.

Originally from Wisconsin, Dr. Schmid resides in Hudson with his wife (Dr. Susie Kim) and their two children.

Shamik Bafna, M.D.

Shamik BafnaDr. Bafna is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist with over 11 years of surgical experience. Dr. Bafna brings an extensive education from the University of Michigan, including his BS, MS and MD. He completed his residency at the Cullen Eye Institute at Baylor University, and received the Heed Ophthalmic Foundation Fellowship Award during his fellowship at the New England Eye Center in Boston. Dr. Bafna is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a National Board of Medical Examiners Diplomat.

Dr. Bafna has extensive experience treating cataract as well as laser vision correction patients. He has published and presented sever peer-reviewed journals. He has received numerous honors including the prestigious Heed Ophthalmic Foundation Fellowship Award.

William Wiley, M.D.

William WileyDr. Wiley is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist who has pioneerer many eye procedure in the Northeast Ohio Area. He was the first Cleveland are physician to implant the Tecnis Aspheric and the ReZoom Multifocal Intraocular lenses available for cataract surgery. Dr. Wiley was also among the first physicians in the country to implant the Crystalens accommodative intraocular lens also available for cataract surgery. To date, Dr. Wiley has performed over 10,000 cataract and refractive surgical procedures. He is a true Doctor’s doctor in that over the past four years he has performed over 100 surgeries on physicians and their family members.

Dr. Wiley received a BA in Chemistry from the University of Virginia, then attended the Medical College of Ohio. During a rotation in medical school in Russia, he worked with Dr. Svyatoslov Fyodorov, the pioneer of modern refractive surgery. Bill received honors from Harvard Medical School during an advanced ophthalmology rotation. Bill is currently medical director at both Clear Choice and the Cleveland Eye Clinic.

Ryan O. McKinnis, O.D.

Ryan McKinnisIn his spare time, Dr. McKinnis can usually be found watching various sporting events, especially those involving his beloved Pittsburgh-area teams. He especially enjoys spending time with his wife, Heather, and 1 year old son Owen. Dr. McKinnis and his family are also active in their local church. They reside in Summit County.
